Finally a break from the heat. Last night the temperature dropped 25 degrees in an hour and it is only 72 this morning  It has been one heck of a summer....hot , hot, hot.  so hot the last few weeks that one has not wanted to go outside!

Katie's update yesterday reminded me that I had not written a word since our beach week.  We all gathered at the beach house in Duck and had a great week in the sun and the sand.  All the kids had a great time on the beach and the weather was very pleasant and not too hot.  We ate well and had the usual political discussions.....that become very "heated" to say the least.

The Milliken kids are the big kids now Alex will be thirteen in November and Chrirtopher is nine.  Jackson and Chris had fun together this year playing on the beach, waterballoon fights. and video games.  Lily Kate loves Emma and had fun playing with her.

All in all it was a great week!

As for the remainder of the summer so far............nothing too exciting.  Our next vacation is going to be a trip West to the Tetons, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon.  We are dirving to Ryan and Beth's wedding and the heading west.  I have a feeling I will have callouses on my bum  by the time we get home.

I have new photos that I will post  later.  Hope your move goes well Meghan.  Thanks for the update Katie.  Love,  Bobbie

Beach Week for the Kennedy Clan begins tomorrow.  the Millikens are on the way as I type.  They are headed for Richmond to spend the night with the Kennedy's.  We hope for good weather and great surf,

Man ....it has been ages since I have added anything to this page.  Katie sent an update so I was reminded that I needed to add something.  Summer is upon us.

It is Memorial Day weekend.  No pool at thsi end,  too cool,   Yesterday was Lily Kate's 4th birthday so we spent the afternoon at the Kennedy's celebrating.  Jessi, Patrick and Emma came up from Richmond, and Lily's cousins that live close by were there as well.  Lots of girls!   We all had a great time. The kids re growing up.  I put a last minute call into Meghan and Scott and the boys but they had scott's famliy for the weekend.

Reportedly, the Milliken's spent the weekend at soccer games.  shades of a past life for us.  Both Alex and Christopher were in tournaments.  Now they will all go into soccer withdrawal.

Our next big adventure as a family is "Beach Week" in June.  We are all looking forward to that for sure.

All else is calm around here.  Just doing our thing so to speak.

Well........ the barn is empty, as well as the attic, and the cellar on Monroe Street.  Tom, Mame, David and Kath had almost all the hauling done by the time we got there on Friday afternoon.   It is strange to admit this, but after we were there or awhile sorting and dumping the nostalgia went away and the feeling of moving on took over.   For me a great deal of that was knowing that Kath was excited about her new home and also that she will have room to take all of Mom's furniture with her.

We met the young family who is very excited about moving in and making it theirs.  They are very pleasant.  There are many young families on the street now and many children as well.

We had dinner at the Station on friday night .....quite a crowd and lots of lively conversation.  Saturday after some sorting of Mom's stuff we went to Springfield to see Kath and Chip's new house.  Wow!  It certainly is a wonderful old home with all kinds of character.  Mucho space.  Lots of room for all Kath's Object d'art for sure.  I can't wait to see it in a couple of months.  For the most part the house is in very good condition and very appealing.  I am glad that they found something that they love.  Saturday we went out for pizza with the crew that were left.  The Kelly boys had fun  and Kora slept.

Sunday we were home by 3:00 oclock...(almost a record breaker) time to shop for groceries, wash the cars, and start the laundry.

Back to work on Monday......Spring is here.  The pollen is out as well as the flowering trees and my garden is springing to life once again.

I do hope that all of you had a Happy Easter.  Many thanks to those of you who have sent recent updates for your pages and for the photos.  By the way, if the photos are not on the photo page you will find them at the Smug Mug Link so check them out.

Richard and I just returned from a weekend in South Bend visiting the Milliken's.  There is no such thing as sleeping in at that house.......we were up and out very early every day.  Basketball game for Chris, Alex had soccer practice, and that was just the beginning.............  homework to do, instruments to practice, pets to walk and feed and the beat goes on. Rick kindly gave Richard a tour of the ND campus which is growing by leaps and bounds every time we see it. The six of us were showered and in church by 7:45 on Easter, and there is only one shower!  We had fun just watching for the weekend.  I have a feeling that the Easter Weekend was a relatively quiet one.

Spring came to South Bend on Monday.  The sun came out and it was a beautiful day.

Happy Easter Week.  We are heading to South Bend on Friday  to celebrate Christopher's 9th birthday and Easter weekend with the Milliken family.

Things remain spring-like here in Virginia.  Some early spring flowers are in bloom, and the red haze that appears prior to the trees foliating is beginning to show in the sunlight.

Richard had an MRI of his knee on Sunday.  His orthopedist thinks he may have a torn miniscus.  We will know more when he goes back to the doctocr the week after Easter.  Right now he is pretty bummed...he is unable to do his morning run.  That is doubly irritating because we are still non-smokers and the exercise is important.  I continue to walk daily and have added a few miles of Walk Away the Pounds  .....so far things are going alright,  I must say it feels good to not smoke especially when you walk by someone standing outside huddled in the cold puffing away.

Welcome back ....

It is a warm, sunny March day and I am looking forward to doing a little cleaning in the garden after I get caught up on my household chores.  Speaking of household chores I am in the process of wrapping up the redecoration of the "Library" on the lower level of the house.  We call it the library because it is where we keep our books, it is also very visible from the entry way.  Well ....it is now very white, very clean and looks nice even if I do say so myself.  It took me forever to do, but it was worth it in the end.

Happy St. Patrick's day to one and all.  I had a flash back the other day about decorating the St. Michael's  float for the Holyoke parade.  It was always such a big deal.  Our kids sent us green carnations ths year which was  nice surprise.  Richard is big on the celebration of his Irish heritage.  he gets a bit teary when he remembers the green plastic carnation his mom sent him in Viet Nam.
